What happens when you discover exciting small parcels of vineyards outside the Elgin Valley? You snap up the grapes and create a new range of very limited production wines to showcase your amazing find. That’s exactly how our GPS Series came about.
Our “Grape Positioning System” series comprises a 2017 Lower Duivenhoks River Chardonnay from vineyards on limestone soils which bring restraint, minerality, freshness of fruit and a chiselled edge, with orange and grapefruit peel, yellow cling peaches, lemon cream biscuits and crème fraiche on the palate.
Our 2016 Klein River Syrah comes from 3 hectares of virgin shale-derived Glenrosa soils nestled at the foot of the Klein River Mountains, in one of South Africa’s smallest wine wards. This medium-bodied Syrah is voluminous with a core of juicy Morello cherries, liquorice and molasses, with gorse bush, baked plums, bay leaf and Angostura Bitters, whilst retaining Richard’s signature restraint and elegance.
Neither of these tiny wine-producing areas is well-known (yet!) but we are sure you’ll fall in love with the wines and to help you discover exactly where our grapes come from we’ve teamed up with what3words – a fantastic invention – who have divided the world into 3m x 3m squares. Head to ///ultimate.luck.froth to find our Lower Duivenhoks River vineyard and ///isolated.eathier.mystically for Klein River.
